I owe a debt of immense gratitude to my high school English teacher, Ms. Wallis, who taught me the existence, the power, and the beauty of poetry. She was particularly fond of Emily Dickinson, whose evocative verse I was able to comprehend as language used in ways never before apparent to me.
I have since that time discovered, lost, and rediscovered poetry until I realized I needed to write poetry. Here are some of my efforts.
